"Remember Christmas '02?" is designed to transport you into a world of Christmas nostalgia, to ultimately remember what Christmas once felt like during childhood years specifically in the early 2000's. In 2002, I was only 2 years old, but that was the first year I felt the childhood Christmas magic. Throughout the album, you will hear recordings from real family tapes of mine during that time, mixed with a ton of versions of a melody you might already know from my single "Christmas Flight". All of the tracks depict a certain experience I remember from that age through sound design. I remember growing up at that time with hand-me-down cassettes and VHS cameras, so the album is designed to sound like it was ripped right from those old tape archives.

I classify the album as a sound collage, meant to sonically transport the listener into an early 2000’s Christmas. The magic of Christmas to the eyes and ears of a two-year-old kid is far different to my current view. This magic could include believing in Santa Claus, experiencing Christmas lights for the first time, getting toys as presents, and participating in specific family traditions for the first time. Over time, some traditions fade away, some beliefs dissipate, and all of this change can feel like the magic ran out. The main body of the album besides the final title track are degraded in the worn cassette and VHS sound, sonifying the time period. The final track ends by introducing a brand new melody and being presented in hi-fi. The orchestral ending represents the fondness and longing feelings of what Christmas once felt like, but on the contrary, it is also carries the message that Christmas magic is still there in my current life.
